HE'S BACK, HE'S BACK, HE'S BACK!!!
After 8 long months, the Taker made his reappearance at Judgment Day. And, seeing him incited the biggest marking-out I've ever had. The Ogre laughed his ass off as I screamed and jumped around the living room, knocking my Bartyles and Jaymes down in the process (thank God for a lid, because I have beige carpet), and screaming over and over: "OGRE- DO YOU SEE THAT! UNDIE'S BACK, UNDIE'S FUCKING BACK!! AAAAAAAHHHHHH!" He later told me that I looked like a kid in a candy store. Later on, I cracked open some wine in honor of his return. The celebration continued via ICQ with my Internet chat pals via Texas, who were equally as overjoyed and celebrating with beer, to counter my pissy drink. Yes, I'm a mark and damn proud of it.
And, Taker's got a new variation of the Undertaker gimmick, and about damn time. And, it isn't a stretch from real-life: The Undertaker's now a big, bad, biker. It extends on what he was doing before he left, but this is better. He's so good at being so bad. This Undertaker could give a flying fuck about the establishment, especially his boss. This Undertaker's got an attitude. The entrance is cool. He just comes down on a bike, intimidates, and kicks ass. And, he has yet to disappoint on the mic, as long as he learns to keep his trap shut and not run at the mouth. I hope he also keeps the Titantron entrance with the girls and the nursery rhyme, which ends in something about the dead returning, and the song kicks in. And, the new theme song is "American Badass" by Kid Rock. I think it's a great and complete transformation. I'm still in complete awe how he can transform the character so many times and keep it so refreshing. Taker's the man, plain and simple.
Of course, let the criticism begin. I ventured into ut.net, and some there are bitching about the transformation. They want the major hocus-pocus supernatural dramatic stuff again. I don't mind disagreement, but some of them are ridiculous. What they seem to forget is the new direction of wrestling. While the characters are still larger than life, they aren't gimmicky. And, if Calaway never changed the character, he would have been done a long time ago. The character has definitely needed a big breath of fresh air. In my opinion, it had become stale.
And, some are saying that they killed off the Undertaker. I'd like to know how in the hell that happened? Calaway has said that the Undertaker is an extension of himself, so as long as he's alive and kicking, so is the Undertaker. You bitched and fucking moaned for 8 months for him to come back. You bitched because he didn't come back soon enough for your liking. He's here now, and you are still bitching because he didn't come back in his original gear and to some big entrance with druids, dancing coffins or urns, a hearse, or some shit like that. And, don't get me wrong: I liked the completely supernatural and dead Taker. But, everything runs its course. And, there still is that basis of mystery, power, and darkness, even though it might not be flaming apparent- haven't you seen what comes up on the TitanTron? That shit isn't exactly scenes from a cemetery, but it sure isn't Sesame Street friendly either.**bitch mode now off**
For the rest of his fans, who are enjoying seeing him back looking healthy, with a new gimmick which it looks like he's obviously loving, and at the best he has been in a long, long, time, enjoy, mark out like a mofo, and celebrate!
